The Gulfstream IV-SP is a large-cabin heavy jet considered for coast-to-coast and selected international charter when travelers value a classic three-zone Gulfstream layout and a substantial internal baggage compartment. Age, refurbishment and modification status vary widely across in-service aircraft. So a model search should convert into a proposal for an identified aircraft rather than an assumption about its interior or avionics.
Why the Gulfstream IV SP remains a charter consideration
The G-IV entered service in 1987 and Gulfstream designated serial 1214 and later aircraft as GIV-SP, increasing certified weight while preserving the type's Rolls-Royce Tay power and swept-wing architecture. Gulfstream ultimately produced more than 870 GIV, GIV-SP and G450 aircraft, and the later G450 built directly on this lineage.
That long service history also means today's charter examples can range from largely original to comprehensively modernized.

A GIV-SP reference interior measures about 40 feet 4 inches excluding the aft baggage compartment and 45 feet 1 inch in total, with approximately 7 feet 4 inches of width and 6 feet 1 to 2 inches of height.
Legacy technical data distinguishes roughly 1,517 cubic feet of cabin volume from about 1,687 cubic feet for the broader total-interior convention and approximately 169 to 170 cubic feet of baggage. Typical thirteen- to fourteen-passenger layouts combine club seats, a conference group and divan with a galley and enclosed lavatory. Window finish, seat ergonomics, power, Wi-Fi and entertainment depend entirely on the tail.

Gulfstream IV SP range, cruise speed and flight deck
GIV-SP planning references cluster around approximately 3,880 to 4,166 nautical miles depending on payload, fuel and reserve assumptions, with normal cruise near 460 to 476 KTAS. Two Rolls-Royce Tay Mk 611-8 turbofans, a swept wing with winglets and Honeywell SPZ-8000-series avionics define the original platform.
Modern FMS, displays, surveillance and connectivity are retrofit questions, and the direct carrier must calculate the requested airports, winds, runway, payload and reserves.
